SleepTight Mouthpiece is an anti-snoring device that you can use to prevent snoring while you are sleeping. It is a Mandibular Advancement Device or MAD that works by moving the lower jaw forward. The SleepTight Mouthpiece opens the airway, which eliminates the vibration which causes snoring.

The mouthpiece was designed by a US dentist, developer, and researcher of mouthpieces Dr. Mike Williams. Over 10 years ago he started looking for alternatives to surgery as a way to help snorers. He had been through multiple surgeries and sadly experienced no remedy.

He has over 30 years of experience in cosmetic dentistry, and prior to developing the SleepTight Mouthpiece, he spent five years working on mouth guards and mouthpieces. Dr. Williams specifically waited to have his product FDA approved before offering his product to the public.

The SleepTight Mouthpiece technical stuff

The SleepTight Mouthpiece is a typical MAD device that you must use the boil and bite method to get the custom fit done properly. MAD devices allow you to custom fit the piece to your jaw. A MAD device extends your lower jaw forward, which opens the airway preventing you from snoring. If you have a narrow airway, the tongue slips back into it while sleeping this will partially block the airway causing vibrations that lead to snoring.

The SleepTight Mouthpiece has a hard exterior and an inner core of material that gets softened to create a mold of your haw. So, it if it’s tight to stay in place, but its strong exterior makes it extra durable. This SleepTight Mouthpiece features an air hole that measures 6 mm, so it is not so large that it forces your mouth to remain in an uncomfortable position all night.

The SleepTight Mouthpiece design and material

SleepTight Mouthpiece is made from thermoplastic. As with most of the better MADs, it does not contain any BPA or latex. According to the official SleepTight Mouthpiece website, the device generally lasts 6 months to 2 years. If that is so, it may be slightly harder-wearing than many other MADs.

The SleepTight Mouthpiece also has a small airway in the center that fits in front of the gap in the teeth. This is not unusual. However, the SleepTight Mouthpiece comes with a special fitting handle you insert into the airway.

The MADs have a reputation for being uncomfortable to sleep in. Let us not forget the MADs are forcing our lower haw into an unnatural position. Most people who use MAD experience some level of discomfort. Surprisingly, with the SleepTight Mouthpiece is comfortable enough to sleep in, the SleepTight Mouthpiece has no moving parts which make it also easy to maintain and clean.

The SleepTight Mouthpiece verdict

The SleepTight Mouthpiece showcases several hand-picked opinions from consumers, all of them suggest the device is very effective and does what it is supposed to do. However, it is hard to rely on testimonials placed on different websites. The comfort level should be based on each individual, however, as the SleepTight Mouthpiece is personalized to fit your mouth and jaw, you should not feel any discomfort after getting used to sleeping with the SleepTight Mouthpiece.
